Aren't Carbs bad for you?

FALSE! Complex carbohydrates are a crucial part of a well-balanced diet.

While our name might be controversial, that's kinda the point! We are reclaiming carbs and showing that when you use simple organic ingredients and a little sourdough magic, you don't have to be afraid of carbs!

What is sourdough?

Sourdough uses naturally occurring yeast for fermentation. We cultivate the yeast that lives on the flour by "feeding" a mixture of flour and water. When you keep feeding this mixture, the yeast gets stronger and stronger and can eventually be used to help breads (or crackers) rise.

Our sourdough starter is called Levain "The Rock" Johnson and is 6 years old. We've fed him just about every day since we started thinking about launching this business.

What type of flour do you use?

We use organic all purpose and whole wheat flours from Quebec flour mills.

Are your Sourdough Crackers gluten free?

Since our Sourdough Crackers are made from wheat flour, they do include gluten and are not recommended for celiacs.

However, many people who find it sometimes hard to process gluten, find sourdough to be a great option. The naturally occurring yeast and bacteria break down carbohydrates resulting in a product that is more easy to digest.

Further, many people with gluten sensitivities can actually be reacting to any one of the dozens of additives normally in baked goods. We don't use any of those - just flour, oil, water, and salt!

What allergens are present in your facility?

Our facility has the following allergens: Wheat and Sesame.

No other allergens are present in our facility.

Please Note: in accordance with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), we do not list allergens that may be present in the facilities of our suppliers. We choose our suppliers very carefully and do our own verification to make sure they meet our standards.

What is your shipping policy?

All orders are processed within 2-3 business days. Orders are not shipped or delivered on weekends or holidays. 

If we are experiencing a high volume of orders, shipments may be delayed by a few days. Please allow additional days in transit for delivery. If there will be a significant delay in shipment of your order, we will contact you via email or telephone. 

What is your return policy?

If you’re unhappy with your Carbs Bakery product(s) in any way, please contact us at info@carbsbakery.com. We cannot accept returns on our products as they’re food items, however we will be happy to offer you a full or partial refund or a full or partial replacement of your product(s).

How do I dispose of the packaging?

Our outside box is made from 100% post-consumer recycled paperboard and is itself recyclable and compostable.

The inside bag is made from Oriented Polypropylene (OPP) which is #5 PP and is recyclable as well.
